Administration/Outreach Activities
Steering Committee of the CPQR
I am vice chair of the Canadian Partnership
for Quality Radiotherapy. The CPQR is an
alliance of the national associations of
professionals involved in Canadian radiation
oncology and it works to ensure that all
Canadians have access to high quality
radiotherapy that is safe and effective.
As part of the CPQR, I chair the national
advisory committee to the Canadian Institute for
Health Information on the National
System for Incident Reporting - Radiation
Therapy (NSIR-RT).
I also chair the Canadian
Big Radiotherapy Data Initiative that is
aiming to prepare Canadian radiotherapy practice
for eventual pan-Canadian data sharing to
improve clinical care and research
ICCR and MCMA 2019
In 2019, I co-chaired the international and
local organizing committees of the 19th International
Conference on the Use of Computers in
Radiation Therapy (ICCR). The conference
welcome 450 delegates to Montreal from 30
countries.
The 2nd international conference on Monte
Carlo Techniques for Medical Applications
(MCMA) was held in conjunction with ICCR 2019
and I was a member of the MCMA international
scientific committee.
Canadian Winter School
In 2015 and 2016, I directed the Canadian
Winter School on Quality and Safety in
Radiation Oncology. I have also been a
member of the Winter School organizing committee
and faculty in 2014, 2018 and 2020.
The annual Winter School is a four-day,
multi-professional, continuing education course
for radiation medicine professionals, hosted by
the Canadian
Organization of Medical Physicists. Each
year it attracts approximately 100 delegates
from Canada, the US, and further afield. As
chair and course director in 2015 and 2016, I
recruited the organizing committee, chaired
bi-weekly conference calls, invited ten renowned
faculty members each year and coordinated the
curriculum, the program and the abstract
submission/review process.
As course director for the Winter School in 2015
and 2016 I was a member of COMP's
Science and Education Committee
ESTRO ROSQ Committee
I am a member of the international radiation
oncology safety and quality committee of the European Society
for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO).
Medical Physics Webpage, Facebook group and
Logo
I led the design of a logo for the McGill
Medical Physics Unit. The final logo comprises a
human body (representing medicine), overlaid
with a diverging radiation beam (representing
medical imaging) and schematic of a Compton
scattering interaction on an atom inside the
body (representing physics and radio-biology).
The logo forms the banner of the MPU
webpage and Facebook
page and I incorporated it into a fridge
magnet gift for the MPU alumni.

Holiday Greeting
Image
I enjoy integrating
scientific graphs into fun images. Below is
a holiday greeting card incorporting the
energies of predominance of the
photoelectric, Compton and pair-production
interactions as a function of photon energy.
